Repowering
Methods v1.0 ยท updated 2026-08-28
Value of replacing era-vintage modules/inverters with current technology inside the existing footprint and grid connection.
Method
- Baseline plant reconstructed from declared module count/power where available, else from DC capacity with era-typical module power for the commissioning year.
- Degradation applied per operating year against era-typical rates to estimate today's effective capacity.
- Repowered case: current module efficiency on the same usable area, DC/AC re-optimised against the registered connection.
- Energy from metered/declared production where available, else a latitude-climatological specific-yield estimate (labelled); economics as incremental NPV of the uplift at labelled capex and capture-price assumptions.
Data sources
- National capacity registries (capacity, commissioning year)
- PVGIS-class irradiance data for site yield
- Era-typical module/inverter characteristics (internal tables, labelled per run)
Limitations
- Actual degradation, racking condition, stringing and cable sizing require owner data or inspection.
- Legacy support-scheme rules on capacity changes are flagged, not adjudicated.
- Screening result with labelled assumptions โ not a bankable study, an engineering design, or investment advice.
- Site-specific facts the owner has not provided are filled with labelled, era- or country-typical defaults.
